Introducing Cecil Gee Wood - Songwriter

Hi and thanks for visiting my web page

Cecil Gee Wood Songwriter

I classify my music as Adult Contemporary with elements such as pop, rock, ballad and the blues. I pursue 'the great song' that may be a hit one day and penetrate the public consciousness for posterity.

I fashioned the lyrics and melody with my guitar while keeping in mind veritable classic hits to hopefully emulate. I continually strive to do better so if I am not composing a new song I am revisiting one of the 200 or so already written that could be modified to appeal to today's market.

I am influenced and inspired by Tom Waits as his songs have the emotional content and eclecticism I thoroughly admire. I started writing when I picked up guitar at the age of 14 and was moved by songs from the likes of Elton John, David Bowie and Brice Springsteen but, getting more up to date, Alanis Morissette, Christina Aguilera, Michael Buble and David Gray impress me.

I hope that my songs will be attractive to appropriate artists or the broader media and for them to achieve their full potential. Peace, politics, love and life's challenges play their part as subject matter.

Achievements to date:

Finalist - Tipperary Peace Convention Song Contest 2010 (1 song)

Semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition 2010 (3 songs)

Semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition 2009 (3 songs)

Short listed for a British movie 2009 (1 song)

1. Out The Door  Classic story of a relationship being given a rest as a couple live many miles apart in different countries only for the man left behind to regret letting his woman go.
3rd Precinct production.

2. Tell Me Where I Stand  This is the story of a waiting game when a couple have been together for a long time and the man wants to know if it is the right time to pop the question for marriage. SCAMP Studio production.

3. Can't Shake You Off  A guy is haunted by the vision of his former wife. He dreams of her and hears her voice as if she was real. He suffers from a recurring dream where all was fine and cannot get her out of his head. He knows it was right to part down to her infidelity but she still comes back to him in the dreams and he feels that he is missing her. He knows deep down it would all happen again the same way. SCAMP Studio production.

4. Peace Today  An anthem style song that calls out for peace for all the children of the world and for all mankind to unite. SCAMP Studio production.

5. Your Country Calling  Peace is the theme from a soldier's perspective where he goes out to fight wars from Vietnam to Afghanistan saying to his wife that he will be true to her and his country. His selfless aim is to fight for a peaceful world for his children to inherit.
SCAMP Studio production with Cecil Gee Wood on vocals and harmony.

6. Pink Elephant  A white collar worker is put on the dole and feels he is a shadow of his former self. He turns to smoking, drink and drugs and loses his way until a female companion puts him back on track and stops him spiralling out of control. SCAMP Studio production.
